Future Entertainment

What if you are the future of your own entertainment?

As AI tools continue to advance, we’re entering an era where the consumer can also be the creator. Imagine having the ability to generate music, art, or even movies tailored entirely to your own tastes. For those who’ve longed for recognition or admiration of their creations, this shift might feel unsettling at first. But here’s something to consider: the things I create are a reflection of what I love. They’re a compilation of my unique tastes and experiences.

Even when I use AI in my work, the tools seem to echo my preferences, offering me familiar results unless I actively introduce something new into the mix. So, ask yourself: can you figure out what you truly love—without being told what to like? That might feel like a daunting question, but it’s also an exciting one. I believe the future will offer us unimaginable tools to create our own joy and entertainment.

When I was a child, my creative ideas were constant and relentless and this has continued to this day. I remember feeling frustrated that I couldn't just think something into existence. There were just too many ideas for one person to execute. In my imagination, everything felt so real and vivid - stories, music, entire worlds - but bringing them to life seemed impossibly slow and expensive. I'd wonder why the process of creating couldn't be as instant as my thoughts. (Perhaps that's how it is where we really come from?) Fast forward to today and AI feels like a glimpse into that childhood dream. It's a tool that can bridge the gap between imagination and reality, helping us bring ideas to life almost as quickly as we can dream them up. For me it's like tapping into that pure, creative energy from childhood and watching it unfold in real time. At this time it almost feels like these tools were made for someone like ME.

For those worried about losing the artistry of others, don’t fret. Creativity thrives on diversity, and we’ll always need people who work “analog” or “old school” creatively. It feels good to get dirty and feel the paint, or instruments. Learning how to do things manually provides a sense of accomplishment. For me that's why I still crave picking up some fabric and turning on my sewing machine. AI also doesn't dance or sing. It can mimic these things. But what makes those things feel so good is that it takes your body doing them to actually feel the satisfaction. In fact, when AI does all the creating, it can start to feel repetitive. That’s why the most interesting creations will still come from people like you, exploring the world, discovering new inspirations, and bringing fresh ideas to life.

I’m optimistic that AI could eventually free us from some of life’s burdens, giving us more time to create and explore. So, what would you do with that kind of freedom? What would you create if you weren’t concerned about going viral or making money? What would you say or express if you didn't care who was watching?

These are the questions we should start asking now. Your future happiness might depend on finding what you truly love, rather than consuming only what’s placed in front of you. This is your chance to take your creative power back.

As a side note, I recently passed three delivery robots on the street here in Los Angeles. One wobbled and nearly toppled over, and without thinking, I instinctively asked if it was okay! The woman next to me laughed, and we both wondered what the city might look like in five years. Despite how surreal this moment felt, I’m finding that technology doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

Even my ChatGPT assistant offers better advice than some people—it never gets bitter or envious, and it’s surprisingly helpful. As I see it, technology is a tool, and it’s up to us to use it wisely and creatively. So, I’ll ask you again: what would you create if you truly didn't care who was watching?

Could my opinion about Artificial Intelligence change ten years from now? Yes. Let's see how this one ages.
